Pre-conceptual care for men and women

Pre-conceptual care is all about preparing the body, mind and soul for conception. It is widely accepted that before a couple can conceive, they should try and get in the best physical and mental shape possible. Both men and women are therefore encouraged to have treatments, to help regulate the menstrual cycle and to stimulate healthy sperm production.

Reflexology for balance

The term sub-fertility or infertility is used if conception hasn’t occurred naturally after twelve months of trying for a baby. Often there is no medical explanation or reason for this; rather it can be as a result of an imbalance in the body.

This can be hormonal or circumstantial due to modern day lifestyle (poor diet, stress and anxiety, long working hours) which can impact on our health and affect our body’s natural equilibrium. Reflexology promotes balance and encourages your body’s system to function effectively.

Stress and fertility

The pressure and stress of daily life can have a significant impact on health and therefore fertility too, and stress is often a key concern for people with fertility issues. The anxiety over fertility issues can also add significantly to the stress you are under and this may also affect your ability to conceive.

There could, however, be sensible lifestyle choices you can take to improve your chances. All aspects of your medical history, diet and lifestyle are explored at your initial consultation. You will then be offered an individual treatment plan to help you to achieve a natural pregnancy or to work with you alongside conventional fertility treatments.

The disappointment and anguish of not conceiving can have a huge impact on your life. Fertility challenges can be emotionally exhausting and relationships can strain under the stress. Your reflexology treatments will not only calm and relax you, but also give you the opportunity to talk about your feelings and concerns.

Hormonal imbalances

Reflexology may help some of the common causes of conception problems such as:

  • polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
  • endometriosis
  • irregular periods
  • lack of ovulation.

These conditions are caused by hormonal imbalance and may make trying for a baby even more difficult. The hormone balance effects of fertility reflexology can help regulate your monthly cycle, helping your periods and ovulation to return to normal, and may ease the symptoms of PCOS and endometriosis.

Fertility reflexology may also help couples who would like support with a wide range of other conditions, including recurrent miscarriage, pmt symptoms, heavy or painful periods, fibroids, cystitis, ovarian cysts, and inflammation of the fallopian tubes.

My training and experience

As a specialist fertility reflexologist I have experience of working with many causes of conception problems, and will aim to offer support through any worries or concerns that you may have.

I treat women and couples at any stage of their fertility journey and many of my clients are undergoing fertility treatment with conventional medical practitioners. I work in ways to enhance their therapies and boost the chance of success using the body’s own mechanisms.

My special interest is in fertility and maternity reflexology, and I have completed advanced training in preconception, pregnancy and post-natal reflexology. I am able to tailor my treatments to your specific needs, whether you are early on in your journey to parenthood or already going through fertility investigations or treatment.
